Psychological therapies in residential aged care facilities

COORDINARE, as the South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network (PHN) aims to improve psychological therapies for rural, remote, under-serviced or hard to reach groups.

In the South Eastern NSW PHN region 19.7% of the population are aged over 65 years. Of those, 4.36% (including Aboriginal people aged 55-64) live in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs). A recent review by the National Ageing Research Institute on behalf of beyondblue showed that RACF residents are five times more likely to experience mental health issues than those living independently.

This Request For Proposal (RFP) has a particular focus on psychological treatment services for people with mental illness in RACFs in South Eastern NSW, and is part of implementing the stepped care approach for mental health across our region.
