Young people affected by the recent bushfires will soon be able to access youth friendly, confidential mental health and wellbeing services through a bushfire response service in Batemans Bay.
The interim service, which is currently in the planning phase and will commence in the coming weeks, will be set up by COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN in partnership with headspace National.
Applications are now open for organisations and / or community groups to support people in Southern NSW and the Shoalhaven in dealing with the uncertainty, stress and anxiety of drought conditions, or to recover from the effects of the recent bushfires.
COORDINARE announced funding to support four general practices in the region integrate a non-dispensing pharmacist as part of their care teams, with the aim of providing medication-related advice to patients.
This funding is an extension of the Patient Centred Medical Home (PCMH) innovation project, which saw a consultant pharmacist successfully integrated within a general practice during a trial in 2018.

COORDINARE announced $1.5 million in funding until June 2021 for Flourish Australia to provide a new psychosocial support service for people in South Eastern NSW with severe and complex mental health needs who are not eligible for assistance through the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
COORDINARE joined with Senator Jim Molan AO DSC, to announce funding for a training program, titled ‘Accidental counsellor’.
The program aims to assist residents within the Bega Valley to create safe and supportive interactions with their family and friends as they recover from the bushfires of 2018.

COORDINARE announced that additional Commonwealth funding will be provided for palliative and end of life care in South Eastern NSW. This funding is part of a broader project aimed at supporting improved capacity, coordination and partnerships between providers of palliative and end of life care.
COORDINARE joined five other PHNs to announce that ProCare Mental Health Services, a not-for-profit service provider, has been funded to operate a new psychiatry support line for GPs.
GPs have said they would like timely access to psychiatry expertise to assist them managing the care of their patients with mental health problems.
