Pitch Night a huge success: Local organisations receive almost $175,000 in funding
COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN’s inaugural Pitch Night was held last night in Wollongong, with three local organisations, Coomaditchie United Aboriginal Corporation, Scarf Incorporated and Beyond Empathy receiving their share of almost $175,000 in funding.

Measles vaccination catch-up guide
Australia has experienced an increase in reported measles cases in 2019, associated with a 300% increase in cases globally, confirming the need to ensure protection against the disease through vaccination. The Australian Immunisation Handbook recommends that two doses of a measles-containing vaccine are required for protection against measles.

Perinatal depression and anxiety (PNDA) awareness campaign
Antenatal depression or anxiety during pregnancy affects up to one in 10 women in Australia. Up to one in six women experience postnatal depression or anxiety, during the first year following childbirth.

SCHN will no longer auto-fax discharge summaries from 1 June
GPs who treat children who have been discharged from Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick or The Children’s Hospital in Westmead will now receive discharge summaries via electronic messaging brokers.
Winter strategy: supporting practices to manage influenza

Update on the StepCare Community of Practice (CoP)
The inaugural StepCare service Community of Practice (CoP) was held on Monday 27 May. 13 staff from five practices across our region met with staff from COORDINARE and the Black Dog Institute to discuss ideas and strategies around implementing the StepCare service.

Meningococcal ACWY vaccine for adolescents
Meningococcal disease occurs when meningococcal bacteria, invades the body and causes serious disease.
Adolescents from 15 years of age are at increased risk of meningococcal disease and are more likely to spread the bacteria to others.
