Celebrating Primary Health Care Nurses working in South Eastern NSW

5 February 2025

With Primary Health Care Nurses Day today, 5 February 2025, COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN is highlighting the important work of thousands of nurses working in primary healthcare across the region.

Prudence Buist, CEO of COORDINARE said: "Primary Health Care Nurses Day is an opportunity to acknowledge primary health care nurses and how their work positively impacts the health and wellbeing of every Australian.”

COORDINARE is celebrating the amazing work that nurses do through general practice, aged care, community, custodial, schools and a range of other primary health care settings.

The campaign, 'Treating the whole person', highlights how primary health care nurses have a holistic, patient-centred approach to care, focusing on the whole person, not just addressing symptoms or the problem at hand.

"Nurses are a vital part of primary health care teams and their capacity for empathy, guidance, education and problem solving is to be acknowledged. Many nurses have an important role in detecting and identifying issues and in helping to manage complex health challenges,” said Ms Buist.

“We are also highlighting the many employment opportunities available for nurses in primary health care settings.

“Please thank a primary health care nurse today. And if you are interested in a new or different career, I urge you to consider the nursing opportunities in primary health care,” she said.
